Trekking to the discovery of Sila

Program

DAY 1 Arrival to Camigliatello
Arrived to Camigliatello Silano we will be greeted with a welcome cocktail. We would highly recommend to visit the Old Calabria literary park, a literary journey introducing the beautiful region of Calabria. Afterwards we can stroll through the main street of Camigliatello to visit the typical shops. For dinner, we will taste the specialties of Sila based on potatoes, mushrooms and podolica meat.

DAY 2 From Neto valley to Volpintesta mount
We are going to move to the discovery of the Sila upside penetrating the large valley of Neto before coming back, through a wood of larches and beeches, to the panoramic high ground of Volpintesta mount. The highest area is characterized by the presence of small peaks from where is possible to enjoy suggestive sights on the Sila upside, the Cecita and Ariamacina rivers and the massive of Pollino. Packed lunch on the southern bank of the Ariamacina river, from where we go back through green grasslands. In the afternoon, coming back to Camigliatello.

DAY 3 From Fallistro to Botte Donato mount PNS SI - CAI 403
During the second day of excursions to the Sila, we will leave from the Yard of Fallistro, from where we go upriver on the Neto, through mosses and water mirrors, up to the beautiful meadows of Macchianello. Through easy fords, we keep going uphill until the peak of Botte Donato mount, the highest of the Sila, height 1.928 meters. In the afternoon, we will come back to Camigliatello and for dinner, we will taste some local typical dishes.
