Program

Day 1 Matera, Capital of the Culture


Transfer to Matera, ‘City of Stones’ and Unesco Heritage since 1993, as well as Capital of Culture 2019. Free visit of the city. 


Accommodation in the hotel (in the center or in the surroundings depending on availability). Free dinner. Overnight at Hotel.


Day 2 The ancient Greek in Metaponto and the flavors of Rocca Imperiale


Breakfast in Hotel in Matera. 


Guided tour of the city. Light lunch in restaurant accompanied by tasting of local wines. In the early afternoon departure for Metaponto which was an Achaean colony founded at the end of the 7th century. B.C. Guided tour of the archaeological park and museum. Late afternoon departure for Rocca Imperiale, known as the "town of lemons" due to the production of different varieties of citrus (Igp product). Typical dinner accompanied by wines from the Frederick area. Following transfer to Corigliano Calabro or Rossano (depending on availability).

Day 3 Archeology of Sibari and the wines of Cirò


Breakfast in Hotel and departure for Sibari, an important Achaean colony of the end of the 8th century. to. C. Visit of the Archaeological Park of Sibaritide. Then continue to Crotone. Stop in Cirò and tasting of wines and typical products of the area, among the most prolific in the region in the wine field. Lately stop in Strongoli and visit of a famous winery with wine and oil tasting accompanied by typical products. Departure for Crotone and hotel accommodation in the reserved rooms. Free time to visit the city. Free dinner. Overnight at Hotel.


Day 4 I parchi di Capo Colonna e Scolacium e i vini di Riace


Breakfast in Hotel and departure for Capo Colonna


Visit to the archaeological park where the sanctuary of Hera Lacinia was located. 


Departure for Borgia and visit of the Archaeological Park of Scolacium, where the Greek city of Skilletion rises, overlapping the Roman city of Scolacium. Lunch in restaurant. Continuation to Stilo and visit of the Cattolica, a jewel of Byzantine architecture. Continuation to Riace and visit of a typical winery with tasting of wines and typical products. 


Free dinner. Accommodation in hotel in Roccella Ionica and overnight.


Day 5 Locri Epizefiri, Kaulon e il Greco di Bianco


Breakfast in Hotel and departure for Monasterace, where we will visit the Archaeological Park of ancient Kaulon. 


Afterwards we will visit the cellars of nearby Caulonia. Here we will have lunch with wine tasting. Successively, departure for Locri with visit of the Archaeological Park Locri Epizefiri. Later departure for Reggio Calabria. Along the way we will stop at Bianco, where we will taste the Greek of Bianco, a typical sweet wine of the area. Arrival in Reggio Calabria and hotel accommodation. Free dinner. Overnight.


Day 6 Reggio Calabria


Breakfast in Hotel and visit to the National Archaeological Museum of Reggio Calabria. Successively, walk on the famous promenade and visit the remains of the city walls. Subsequently moved to a local famous winery, tasting of the wines of Reggio Calabria accompanied by typical products. Free time to spend freely around the city. Free dinner. Overnight.


Day 7 Departure


Breakfast at the hotel and departure for the return.
